The National Meteorological Administration (ANM) has issued new Code Yellow weather warnings for exceptionally high temperatures and thermal discomfort, valid on Tuesday and Wednesday in several counties located in the south, southeast, west and southwest of Romania.
According to the specialist forecast, on Tuesday between 12:00 and 21:00, in Banat, in the south of Oltenia and Moldavia, in the southern, central and eastern parts of Muntenia and in continental Dobruja, exceptionally high temperatures and thermal discomfort are expected. The temperature-humidity index (ITU) will locally reach the critical threshold of 80 units. Maximum temperatures will range between 33 and 35 degrees Celsius.
The counties affected by this Code Yellow alert on Tuesday are: Braila, Buzau, Calarasi, Caras-Severin, Constanta, Dolj, Galati, Giurgiu, Ilfov, Ialomita, Mehedinti, Olt, Tulcea, Timis, Teleorman, Vrancea and Bucharest Municipality.
Furthermore, on Wednesday, also between 12:00 and 21:00, a second Code Yellow alert for exceptionally hot weather will be in force across Oltenia, Muntenia, southern Moldavia and continental Dobruja. Maximum temperatures will again range between 33 and 35 degrees C, and may reach 36-37 degrees C in the southern areas of Muntenia.
The warning will apply to the following counties: Arges, Braila, Buzau, Calarasi, Constanta, Dambovita, Dolj, Gorj, Galati, Giurgiu, Ilfov, Ialomita, Mehedinti, Olt, Prahova, Tulcea, Teleorman, Valcea, Vrancea and Bucharest Municipality.
