The fourth International Conference on Psychodrama for Children and Adolescents takes place today in Cluj-Napoca and it is designed for those with various types of behavioural disorders.
"The method of psychodrama for children was developed by psychotherapist Hanna Kende, born 100 years ago in Cluj, trainer of the French Society of Adlerian Psychoanalysis, who currently lives in Paris. (...) Psychodrama activities for children are (usually) carried out in groups of up to 6 children and are led by two therapists/leaders. The meetings take place weekly, throughout a school year. The duration of a meeting is 1-1.5 hours. Also, through dramatic games, children's skills are enriched, they learn new roles and behaviours, alternative strategies for solving intrapsychic and interpersonal conflicts, which help them to successfully cope with the demands and challenges encountered. By improving their communication and interpersonal skills, they manage to integrate better with the community and society. It is recommended primarily for children who face the following difficulties: behavioural disorders (hypermotility, aggressiveness, attention concentration problems); inhibition, anxiety, nervous tics; psychosomatic disorders (enuresis, allergies, migraines); difficult life situations (chronic illnesses, divorce, loss in the family, etc.); performance anxiety; difficulties in relating/adapting, etc.", according to organisers.
During the conference, a Romanian version of Hanna Kende's " Psychodrama with Children: Healing Children Through Their Own Creativity," will be released. The book offers a valuable tool to all psychotherapists who use the psychodrama method or want to specialise in the future.
The author, who celebrates her centennial this year, will attend the conference and give a lecture. The event will be attended by psychotherapists from 12 countries around the world. The book launch takes place on Friday, September 12, in the evening at Cluj Hub, on Regele Ferdinand Street, no. 22-26, in the building of the Central store.
Psychodrama with children is a method of group psychotherapy that is based on action and on the creative ability to represent one's own experiences and emotions.
