Approximately 30,000 daily job applications from candidates aged between 18 and 24 were recorded on an online recruitment platform during the first week of September.
According to data compiled by eJobs, most candidates are focusing on sectors that predominantly offer entry-level jobs: retail, call centre/BPO, services, financial-banking, tourism and IT/telecom.
At the same time, young jobseekers are choosing large cities such as Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Iasi, Timisoara and Brasov, not only because these cities offer the most employment opportunities, but also because net average salaries for entry-level roles are the highest in the country.
According to Salario, eJobs' salary comparison tool, the national average net salary for entry-level positions is 3,800 lei, while in Bucharest the average increases to 4,200 lei, and in Cluj-Napoca, Timisoara and Iasi to 3,900 lei.
Moreover, young people are attracted to remote job offers, but show relatively little interest in jobs abroad. From this perspective, 14.7% of total applications are for remote roles, 1.1% for jobs abroad, and 84.2% for positions requiring physical presence in the office.
"Official statistics confirm that, in terms of age, young people aged 16 to 24 remain the most vulnerable category in the labour market, with an unemployment rate of 23.5% between April and June 2025. In concrete terms, this means that nearly one in four young people active in the labour market did not have a job during this period. The fact that more than half of all available jobs are targeted at the entry-level segment shows that there are indeed opportunities in the market for them, even though competition for jobs has increased, along with the average hiring time," said Roxana Draghici, Sales Manager at eJobs, as quoted in a press release issued by the platform.
Regarding job availability, 25,000 vacancies were posted by employers on the platform over the past month, of which more than 15,000 were entry-level positions.
Currently, 23,000 job vacancies are available on eJobs.ro, and another 8,000 positions are open on iajob.ro, the new platform launched by eJobs, aimed at candidates seeking fast-track employment without going through the traditional recruitment steps, such as creating a CV.
