A total of 4,699,559 pensioners were registered in Romania in December 2025, up by 4,279 compared with the previous month, while the average pension stood at 2,778 lei, according to data compiled by the National House of Public Pensions (CNPP) and consulted by AGERPRES.
The total value of pension entitlements amounted to 13.053 billion lei.
Of the total number of pensioners, 534,467 had periods worked in agriculture, with an average pension of 720 lei.
According to CNPP statistics, the number of old-age pensioners stood at 3,788,189 people, of whom 2,163,045 were women, while the average pension was 3,109 lei.
In December 2025, 66,391 people received early retirement pensions, with an average pension of 2,579 lei, while 397,601 people received disability pensions, with an average pension of 1,094 lei, including 46,096 people with first-degree disability, whose average pension was 958 lei.
In the same month, survivor's pensions were granted to 447,283 people, with an average pension of 1,502 lei, while 95 pensioners received social assistance, averaging 540 lei.
