A total of 4,684,474 pensioners were recorded in March 2026 in Romania, 3,618 fewer compared with the previous month, and the average pension was 2,782 lei, according to data centralised by the National House of Public Pensions (CNPP), consulted by AGERPRES.
The total value of pension entitlements due amounted to 13.032 billion lei.
Of the total number of pensioners, 522,613 had worked in agriculture, and the average pension was 716 lei.
According to CNPP statistics, the number of those who retired upon reaching the retirement age was 3,782,225 people, of whom 2,158,318 were women, while the average pension was 3,113 lei.
Early retirement pensions were received, in March 2026, by 63,236 people (average pension of 2,508 lei), and disability pensions by 392,458 people (average pension of 1,086 lei), of whom 45,936 were classified as first-degree disability (average pension of 949 lei).
In the same month, survivor's pensions were granted to 446,463 people (average pension of 1,508 lei), while 92 pensioners received social assistance (540 lei on average).
