Chairman of the Save Romania Union (USR) Dominic Fritz convened the party's Political Committee for Friday at 12:00hrs in view of voting the proposals for the National Defence and Economy Ministries.
Thus, the current Economy Minister Radu Miruta is proposed for the Defence office, as well as the Vice Prime Minister position. The proposal for the leadership of the Economy Ministry is Senator Irineu Darau, according to a USR release sent on Thursday.
"Radu Miruta's nomination for the Defence Ministry is natural, taking into account the rigour he proved in the Government activity, but also in the context of his direct and consistent involvement in implementing the SAFE Programme in Romania, a programme equipping the Army with the cooperation between the Defence Ministry and the national defence industry under the Economy Ministry," the release said.
Radu Miruta said he is honored by this nomination, mentioning that, as Vice Prime Minister, he will make sure that the projects which he started at the Economy Ministry follow their roadmap.
"In the six months of my mandate at the Economy Ministry, I have proved that I can set an institution on the right course, that I can eliminate injustices and I know how to capitalize on Romania's natural resources. I have full confidence that my successor will uphold this direction and I will remain a constant support in the Government for the continuation of these projects. At the same time, I believe that is essential to consolidate the Defence sector, strengthen the industrial capacities and modernize production so that Romania is better prepared for the current security challenges," he mentioned.

His work included software architecture, coordination of teams and projects, as well as collaboration with major international clients. "I am honored and entrusted with the confidence which my colleagues in the USR placed in me. I fully assume the mission to coordinate complex areas under this ministry's responsibility and to seek rational and constructive solutions. I will continue the reforms initiated by my colleague Radu Miruta, proactively look for solutions for the Romanian industry and promote better management of state-owned companies. Relying on my 15 years of professional experience in software development, I will support the accelerated digitalisation of essential public services and an open partnership with the best Romanian experts," Irineu Darau said.
