The three-month ROBOR index, which is used to calculate the cost of consumer loans in lei with variable interest rates, fell on Wednesday to 5.91% per annum, from 5.97% in the previous session, according to data published by the National Bank of Romania (BNR).
A lower level of the ROBOR index, at 5.90%, was recorded in May last year. At the beginning of 2025, the ROBOR index stood at 5.92%, agerpres reports.
The six-month ROBOR index, used to calculate interest rates on variable-rate mortgage loans in lei, declined to 6.04% per year from 6.09% per year on Tuesday, while the 12-month ROBOR fell to 6.19% per year from 6.26% per year previously.
As for the reference index for consumer loans (IRCC), regulated by Emergency Ordinance no. 19/2019, it currently stands at 5.68% per year, calculated as the arithmetic average of daily interest rates on interbank transactions in the third quarter of 2025.
