The George Emil Palade University of Medicine, Pharmacy, Sciences and Technology (UMFST) of Targu Murea, a member of the DIVERSE University Alliance (Diversity and Inclusion, Visibility, Equity, Research, Sustainability, Excellence) together with universities from 11 other European countries, has been designated as a pilot university for the testing and validation of the European Interoperability Framework for Digital Education.

"UMFST, through the DIVERSE Alliance, is a pilot university in the testing and validation of the European Interoperability Framework for Digital Education. UMFST participates, together with DIVERSE partners, in a pilot project within the European Digital Education Hub. With activities integrated with the European Standard-setting Framework for facilitating barrier-free educational processes at European level, UMFST contributes to the Interoperability Task Force to define common standards that will allow: the rapid and secure transfer of academic records, credits and qualifications; improving the experience of students and teachers, through clear processes and reducing repetitive tasks and strengthening cooperation between partner universities, through the exchange of data, tools and good practices," reads a UMFST social media post.

This collaboration focuses on piloting two case studies, to create and test a unitary path of information and application in the definition of courses, with emphasis on clear and comparable information, step-by-step guidance and transparent rules of recognition.

"In the first stage, priority was given to micro-certifications, as a model of inter-university study opportunities. Through its role within the alliance and this project, UMFST contributes to transforming interoperability from concept to practice, supporting the development of academic mobility and the modernisation of digital education at European level."

Last year, the DIVERSE University Alliance, holder of a Seal of Excellence, was officially recognised as a European University Alliance by the European Commission.

The DIVERSE (Diversity and Inclusion, Visibility, Equity, Research, Sustainability, Excellence) university alliance brings together 12 universities from 11 European countries, totalling over 150,000 students and over 15,000 teachers and researchers.

DIVERSE aims to become a global leader in Venture Science and Deep Tech, consolidating itself as a European and multidisciplinary institution focused on
technological innovation and entrepreneurship, promoting European values.

Through its activities, the alliance develops a transnational and multilingual campus, joint degree programmes, academic and professional mobilities in Europe, research support, repositories and shared infrastructures, as well as a strong network of stakeholders at European level.
