Mircea Lucescu leaves behind a monumental career, being one of the most titled coaches in the history of world football, the Speaker of the Senate, Mircea Abrudean wrote on Facebook on Tuesday.
''This evening, Romanian football has become poorer. Mircea Lucescu, a mentor for entire generations and a symbol of excellence, has left us. We are left with the memory of the colossal successes and the passion that Il Luce put into each match. He leaves behind a monumental career, being one of the most titled coaches in the history of world football. Smooth path among the stars, Master! Sincere condolences to the grieving family'', Abrudean wrote on Facebook.
Mircea Lucescu died on Tuesday, at the Bucharest University Emergency Hospital. He was 80 years old.
