Romanian tennis player Jaqueline Cristian on Wednesday advanced to the quarterfinals of the women's singles event at the Adelaide International WTA 500 tournament in Australia, prize money USD 1,206,446, after beating Australian of Russian origin Daria Kasatkina, 6-4 6-0.
Qualifier Cristian, 27, ranked 37th , prevailed in an hour and 31 minutes.
The Romanian took full advantage of nine double faults committed by Kasatkina, 28, ranked 48th.
Kasatkina led 3-0 in head-to-head count before this confrontation, after her wins in 2022, in the second round of Qatar Open, 2-6 2-2 (Cristian retired), in 2024 in the quarterfinals of Charleston Open, 6-7 (4/7) 6-2 6-3, and in the same year in the first round at the US Open, 6-2 6-4.
For her performance so far, Cristian won USD 33,470 and 133 WTA singles points.
