Tennis duo Irina Bara of Romania and Raluca Serban, a Romanian now representing Cyprus, on Wednesday progressed to quarterfinals of the women's doubles event at the Bitpanda Hamburg Open WTA 250 tennis tournament in Hamburg, Germany, prize money EUR 275,094, after a 7-6 (7/5) 6-4 victory over Berfu Cengiz (Turkey)/ Ekaterina Yashina (Russia).
Bara and Serban prevailed in an hour and 30 minutes, agerpres reports.
For their performance so far, the Romanian-Cypriot duo won EUR 2,210 and 54 WTA doubles points, and in the quarterfinals they will play top seed Nadiia Kichenok (Ukraine)/Makoto Ninomiya (Japan).
Bara lost in the singles first round of qualifications, and Serban in the first round on the main draw.
