Liberal MEP Daniel Buda said on Friday that repeated attempts to remove Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan from office represent a project of the "Dragnea wing" within the Social Democratic Party (PSD), according to Agerpres.
"The Dragnea wing is trying to block Romania's reforms! The real problem within the PSD is the 'Dragnea current', which is gaining ground within the party. This group once again wants full power within the PSD and in the Romanian state. The constant attempt to remove Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan from office is the project of the Dragnea wing in the PSD, because the PNL leader is the main driver of Romania's reform," Daniel Buda wrote on Facebook.
According to him, the PSD group he referred to behaves similarly to the AUR party, attacking the Government and trying to sabotage its reforms.
"This Sunday, the PSD must decide which side of the barricade it is on: the one that modernises Romania or the one that wants to keep it hostage to a post-communist way of thinking," Daniel Buda added.
The Government approved on Thursday evening the draft budget for 2026, which will be sent to Parliament for debate and vote.
PSD leader Sorin Grindeanu said on Wednesday that the Social Democrats would decide on Sunday, during the meeting of the National Political Council, whether they would support the 2026 budget draft and whether they would table amendments.
