Romania has successfully integrated European legislation and has carried out, over time, several projects through European and international collaborations in order to strengthen actions concerning consumer rights and intellectual property for the 2025-2030 period, said Oana-Alexandra Cambera, state counselor within the Prime Minister's Chancellery, at a specialist event, according to Agerpres.
InfoCons marked World Consumer Rights Day and World Intellectual Property Day through an event organised on Friday at the Bucharest Court of Appeal.
'Romania has successfully integrated European legislation into its regulatory framework and, over time, we have implemented several projects through various European and international partnerships to strengthen actions related to consumer protection and intellectual property for the 2025-2030 period. We will certainly follow alignment with the new strategic framework of the European Commission and ensure instruments for consumer protection and safety, while at the same time stimulating competitiveness and sustainable growth. We must pay particular attention to the modernisation of institutional control capacities through digitalisation, interoperability of databases, and we must also consider artificial intelligence technologies, which are useful in detecting non-compliant products, thereby ensuring a climate of fair competition and a high level of safety on the market,' the government adviser said.
At the event dedicated to celebrating World Consumer Rights Day and World Intellectual Property Day, InfoCons, under the aegis of the Federation of Consumer Associations, presented 'Trusted' excellence awards and diplomas to institutions, organisations and representatives from various fields of activity that contribute to strengthening a climate of trust and responsibility in society.
The event aimed to highlight the importance of consumer protection and respect for intellectual property rights, as well as their role in strengthening a socio-economic environment based on transparency, responsibility and trust.
InfoCons has also prepared a Strategy for Consumer Protection and Intellectual Property, aimed at increasing public trust in all strategic sectoral areas that contribute to improving quality of life and the socio-economic climate in Romania. The strategy, which will be made public on Sunday, 15 March - World Consumer Rights Day, is aligned with principles promoted internationally by Consumers International and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) for 2026.
During the event, the opening of the exhibition 'OMUL Constantin Brancusi' took place, featuring the only replica of the Endless Column, organised to mark 150 years since the birth of the great artist, in the context of 2026 being declared the 'Constantin Brancusi Year.'
InfoCons reaffirmed the importance of strengthening trust between institutions, the business environment and society, as well as the need to promote high standards of responsibility, integrity and respect for consumers and intellectual property rights.
