The Romanian Academy together with Moldova's Academy of Sciences have announced the establishment of the Romanian Academic Council - CAR, a platform for scientific cooperation at the highest level in Romania that will bring together the two initiating academies and four branch academies in Romania.
The launch ceremony of the new academic forum will take place on Thursday, March 26, in the Auditorium of the Romanian Academy, and will consist of the signing of the founding documents of the Romanian Academic Council, followed by a meeting with the press, in which the mission, objectives and principles of organisation and collaboration will be exposed.
The memorandum, the set-up agreement and the statutes of CAR will be signed by the chairs of the six member academic establishments: the Romanian Academy, Moldova's Academy of Sciences, the Academy of Legal Sciences of Romania, the Academy of Medical Sciences of Romania, the Academy of Agricultural and Forestry Sciences and the Academy of Technical Sciences of Romania.
At the same time, the first meeting of the coordination council will take place on the same day, where the management will be elected.
The establishment of the Romanian Academic Council marks "a moment of reference for the consolidation of academic cooperation in the Romanian space, reaffirming the role of academic institutions as landmarks of knowledge, intellectual dialogue and public responsibility."
"The Romanian Academic Council is constituted as a platform for inter-institutional academic cooperation, with the mission of strengthening scientific dialogue and interdisciplinary collaboration, as well as of capitalising on the intellectual potential of the academic community in the analysis and orientation of the development of society. Through its activity, the Romanian Academic Council will concretely contribute to the development of analyses, studies and recommendations on major subjects of public interest and will be involved in supporting a common space of Romanian science and culture, integrated with the European and international circuit of knowledge," according to the two academies.
The council will operate under the coordination of the Romanian Academy, in compliance with institutional autonomy of each participating academy.
