Romania's diplomatic missions and consular offices will set up in 2021 over 100 itinerant (mobile) consulates, according to the country's Foreign Ministry (MAE).

The sites where the mobile consulates will be set up and the estimate of the time in which they will be open can be found on the website of the MAE: www.mae.ro/sites/default/files/file/anul_2021/2021_pdf/lista_consulate_itinerante_urmare_consultarii.pdf.

At the same time, MAE says that since the beginning of this year, 10 itinerant (mobile) consulates of the initially planned ones have already been set up in Australia (Brisbane), Italy (Reggio Calabria), Malta (Aura), Denmark (Aalborg) , the UK (Newcastle, Bristol, Plymouth, Hull and Coventry), and Spain (Canary Islands).

Since the inception of this process on April 1, 2021, more than 1,000 requests and proposals have been received (by e-mail, phone or social media), and based on these recommendations, compared to the initially proposed calendar, itinerant consulates will also be set up in Italy (Trapani, Sicily), the United States of America (San Francisco, Portland, Seattle, Las Vegas, Denver, Phoenix) and Ecuador (Quito). Also, as a result of this process, the time/location where the mobile consulates are to be set up in Australia, Canada, Greece, France, and the United States of America have changed.
