AGERPRES special correspondent Dana Piciu reports: PSD MEP Vasile Dincu said on Tuesday that Romania should have an intergovernmental agency to handle the implementation of the SAFE program, as Poland, France and Germany have.

"We can't enter either the drone program or the SAFE program if we don't create an intergovernmental institution to deal with this, an agency to deal with this, because otherwise any project falls between the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Economy and the Prime Minister's Office. We should have an agency to deal with the implementation of the SAFE program, for example, and which should be intergovernmental. All countries have done this. Poland, France, Germany did it, they all did it for European projects, they created separate agencies. Because otherwise intergovernmentalism doesn't work," Dincu said at the headquarters of the European Parliament in Strasbourg.

The PSD MEP added that the Supreme Council for Country's Defense (CSAT) should become "an operational institution, not just one that collects opinions from all the ministries of force and then decides something."

"In general, in recent years, especially after 2014, most European countries have a correspondent like our CSAT, which is operationally organized, has experts, has civil servants and works continuously in this field. Let's hope that we will also succeed in these things and let's hope that in the field of the drone industry, because this is where we started, Romania has a great chance to reconstitute a defense industry together with Ukraine from which we can earn a lot of money", he concluded.
