The authorities issued a RO-ALERT message on Monday for the area of Plauru in Tulcea County and traffic in the area was stopped.
Given the situation at the Romanian Ukrainian border near the locality of Plauru, Tulcea County, ISU Tulcea sent a RO-ALERT message to warn and protect the population within a radius of approximately five kilometres, the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations announced.
The content of the RO-ALERT message is as follows: Major explosion danger in the area of Plauru. Avoid the area and move away from it. Follow the recommendations issued by the authorities, including those requiring evacuation from the exposed area, road restrictions or detours.
According to the Delta Tulcea Emergency Situations Inspectorate, the evacuation of Plauru residents is a preventive measure given the nature of the cargo on the vessel that caught fire near the locality of Ismail following a drone attack on Ukrainian territory, with the territory of Romania not affected by the fire.
"The County Emergency Situations Committee and the Local Emergency Situations Committee have both been activated. Today at 11.37 am a RO-ALERT message was issued for the Plauru area due to the imminent danger of explosion. Residents are asked to strictly follow the measures imposed by the authorities, including those regarding evacuation, and to avoid travelling within the indicated perimeter for their own safety. The population is advised to continue to follow official communications and comply with instructions issued by the relevant authorities," ISU said.
As a result of this situation traffic in the area has been stopped.
According to earlier ISU data, fifteen people have already been evacuated and will be transported to Ceatalchioi to facilities provided by the local authorities.
