Students passionate about IT and technology from across the country will gather this weekend in Ramnicu Valcea to test their creativity and ingenuity in the national stage of the "Robotics for Good: Youth Challenge", an international programme inviting young people worldwide to design and build robots that use AI to help solve real-world problems.
The event, held for the first time in Romania, is organised by Proiect IVI, an educational NGO from Valcea County, under the aegis of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). It brings together students aged 9 to 17 who will compete for the chance to represent Romania in the grand final of the competition, scheduled for July 7-10 in Geneva.
This year's challenge for participants is to develop robotic solutions for agriculture and food security, specifically by designing and programming robots to carry out missions inspired by real processes such as crop care and irrigation as well as harvesting and sorting.
"An event of such scale for our community is possible thanks to the vision and support of our institutional partners. We thank SCM Ramnicu Valcea and the Ramnicu Valcea City Hall for their support. Through this strong partnership, we are turning our city into a genuine hub for innovation and excellence for the younger generation. We invite everyone to support together the brilliant minds of Romanian robotics on their way to the international grand final," representatives of Proiect IVI said.
The competition will take place on Sunday starting at 8:00 a.m. at the Traian Sports Hall in Ramnicu Valcea.
