The reforms and efforts to bring Romania back on the path of development and prosperity will begin with the state and the political clientele, the Prime Minister-designate Ilie Bolojan told Monday's joint plenary session of the Parliament.
"I assure all citizens that the reforms and efforts to bring Romania back on the path of development and prosperity will begin with the state and the political clientele", pointed out Ilie Bolojan in the speech delivered in the joint plenary session of the Legislature for the investiture of the Government.
He emphasized that in his capacity as Prime Minister he will have three priority directions: order in public finances, good governance and respect for citizens.
"Order in public finances, as a basis for avoiding an economic crisis and for regaining the trust of investors, markets and citizens. Good governance - as the engine of state reform, which will ensure an efficient, responsible administration and adapted to current needs. Respect for citizens through quality public services, fairness in the public service and honest social policies, which encourage and respect work. Despite the economic, geopolitical and social challenges, the Government of Romania and the majority that supports it will undertake fundamental reforms, which will generate performance in the administration, the development of Romania and the regaining of trust and hope. We will focus on restoring the budget balance, absorbing European funds, continuing investments, supporting the business milieu and maintaining social solidarity", declared Ilie Bolojan.
The prime minister-designate pointed out that he and the government assume that some of these decisions will not be popular.
"But we must take into account that: in the absence of measures, Romania would decisively enter an area of fiscal-budgetary uncertainty, with the risk of losing contact with the European direction of development and high costs for people and companies. In return, the application of state reform measures will lay the foundations for solid development for Romania. In the coming years, we have the opportunity to become a modern, stable and respected state, both internally and externally. Everything depends on our will to act correctly, directly and on time, without electoral calculations", Ilie Bolojan emphasized.
