Concrete political action should be distinguished from statements, President Nicusor Dan said on Tuesday in Helsinki, in connection with the Social Democratic Party (PSD)'s vote on the motion against Save Romania Union (USR) Environment Minister Diana Buzoianu, adding that, for the moment, the governing coalition is functioning.
"I do not believe it is useful for a party to vote on a motion against a member of the same coalition it belongs to, I do not think it is useful, but we must separate statements from concrete political action. For now, this coalition is functioning, and it is good that it is functioning, because it sends a signal both to partners in the security area and to partners in the economic area, that they have someone to talk to in Romania and that Romania takes responsibility for the things it has committed to do at a certain point. That is the situation, which I can only welcome. As a citizen, I would like to hear less background noise, but all in all, we are moving forward," Nicusor Dan said.
The head of state was in Finland for the EU Eastern Flank Summit.
"Because we are at an international summit, it is very difficult to explain to a foreigner I am speaking with that we have four parties forming a coalition and they all attack each other while none of them utter a word of opposition. For me, it is very hard to understand," the president added.
