Romania grants special attention to the United Nations Organisation, as one of the largest multilateral framework for the debate of the main global issues, reads Prime Minister Viorica Dancila's message presented by Deputy Prime Minister Ana Birchall at the conference "Supporting peace and development in a changing world," an event organised by Nizami Ganjavi International Center, that took place in New York, on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.
According to a press release of the Gov't, the conference benefited from a high-level participation, among the guests being heads of state and government, ministers, former political leaders, representatives of some international institutions, NGO and prestigious think-tank representatives.
"Romania attaches particular importance to the United Nations Organisation, an organisation with an universal vocation, the UN being one of the largest multilateral framework for the debate of the main global issues, including the long-term development objectives and durable peace. (...) Romania would be proud to bring its contribution to the works of the UN Security Council. Our candidacy for a non-permanent place in the Security Council for the 2020-2021 mandate represents my country's commitment in backing the UN efforts to ensure peace and security," the message conveyed at the opening of the event reads.
Deputy PM Ana Birchall participated, within the same conference, in the workshop on "The future of Euro-Atlantic and the Western Balkans relations", welcoming the involvement of the Nizami Ganjavi International Center in organising substantial debates on topics with a global impact.
As regards the address held during the workshop, Ana Birchall appreciated that "governments need to commit themselves to the path of real reforms, that will provide viable perspectives in consolidating the stability of the Western Balkans, South-East Europe and Europe in its entirety."
"Romania will continue to plead for pursuing the enlargement processes of the European and Euro-Atlantic integration. However, it is necessary to successfully overcome the divergences that have dominated for a long time this part of Europe and we do not give up on our Euro-Atlantic aspirations, the only ones that can guarantee the security, stability and prosperity of the Western Balkans and of Europe," Ana Birchall said during her address, as quoted by the release.
