Parliament approved on Wednesday President Nicusor Dan's letter on the temporary deployment of U.S. military equipment and forces in Romania.
Senators and deputies voted on the letter from the President of Romania regarding the approval by the Romanian Parliament, pursuant to art.4 paragraph (2) of Law no. 291/2007, republished, with subsequent amendments and completions, of proposals by the Prime Minister of Romania, after consulting the Supreme Council for National Defense on March 11.
There were 272 votes "for", 18 votes "against" and five abstentions.
The defense committees of the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate previously approved, by majority vote, the decision that would allow, according to the letter of the President of Romania, the presence of some U.S. capabilities in the Mihail Kogalniceanu Base, which will be deployed for a determined period.
