Over 151 million euros from European funds for investments in vegetable and potato sector

Romanian vegetable growers can access, starting from January 19, 2026, European funds for investments in the vegetable and potato sector, the total allocated budget being over 151 million euros, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MADR) announced on Tuesday, Agerpres reports.

"MADR, through the Agency for Financing Rural Investments, launches the project submission session for intervention DR-16 - Investments in the vegetable and/or potato sector, financed from the 2023-2027 CAP Strategic Plan. The period for submitting funding applications is January 19, 2026, 9:00 a.m. - March 20, 2026, 4:00 p.m.," MADR informs in a press release.

The total allocated budget is 151,383,529 euros, distributed as follows: 70,383,529 euros for the vegetable sector (individual farms); 51,000,000 euros for potato cultivation; 30,000,000 euros for associative forms - the vegetable sector.

The maximum value of the non-refundable support is up to 2,000,000 euros/project, up to 300,000 euros/project for equipment intended for crops other than potatoes, up to 700,000 euros/project for equipment intended for potato cultivation and up to 700,000 euros/project for the purchase of agricultural equipment intended for associative forms.

According to the cited source, the intensity of non-reimbursable financing is up to 65% of the eligible value of the project.

Through the DR-16 intervention, investments for the establishment and development of vegetable and potato farms, investments in protected spaces (greenhouses, solariums), the acquisition of agricultural machinery and equipment, conditioning and storage units, farm-level irrigation systems and water storage facilities (secondary components) can be financed.

Investments in equipment for warning and mitigating the effects of meteorological phenomena, as well as those regarding processing at the farm level (secondary component), are also eligible.

The MADR also specifies in the press release the quality thresholds for the selection of projects. Thus, in the stage from January 19 to February 18, 2026, 68 points are provided for individual farms and associative forms and 50 points for the "potato" component, and in the stage from February 19 to March 20, 2026, the thresholds decrease to 40 points for individual farms and associative forms, respectively 30 points for the "potato" component.

Funding applications are submitted exclusively online on the AFIR website, where the Applicant Guide and the necessary annexes are available.
