The net average monthly wage at the level of the national economy was, in 2017, 2,338 lei, up by 14.3 percent (+292 lei) in comparison with the previous year, while employers have spent on average, in a month, 4,008 lei / employee, according to a press release sent by the National Institute of Statistics to AGERPRES on Wednesday.
The gross average wage in 2017 was 3,223 lei, 14.7 percent higher (+414 lei) than the one in 2016.
The largest net average monthly salaries, that are above the national average, were recorded in 2017 in the information technologies activities sector (twice), financial intermediaries and insurance (+84.3 percent), public administration (+64.3 percent), extracting industry (+56.8 percent), the production and supply of electric and thermal energy, gas, hot water and air conditioning (+47 percent), professional activities, scientific and technical (+33.9 percent), health and social assistance (+14.3 percent) and in education (+2.1 percent).
The net average monthly salaries that were below the national average were achieved in the hotels and restaurant sector (-39.1 percent), other service activities (-33.5 percent), constructions (-27.5 percent), agriculture, forestry and fishing (-20.5 percent), administrative service activity and support service activities (-20.1 percent), real estate transactions (-17.2 percent), water distribution, sanitation, waste management, decontamination activities (-15.9 percent).
The average number of employees in 2017 was 4,945.900, up 186,500 people, in comparison with the previous year.
The number of employees on 31 of December 2017 stood at over 5.362 million people, higher by 138,600 people, as compared to the end of last year.
At the end of 2017, the number of employees from companies with private capital hit the majority (75.9 percent) and recorded a rise of 2.0 percent, from the previous year.
The employees distribution by the legal form of the companies they work for, reveals that the workers employed in commercial companies represented 79.4 percent from the total number of employees, by 2.7 percent higher as compared to the prvious year.
