Nearly 6,000 unemployed in Bucharest, rate at 0.45% in February - AMOFM

The unemployment rate in the capital stood at 0.45% at the end of February, down from 0.46% in the previous month, with 5,923 unemployed persons registered with the Bucharest Municipal Employment Agency (AMOFM), including 3,650 women, the institution said on Monday.

Of the total number of unemployed, 1,734 were receiving unemployment benefits, while 4,189 were not. In terms of residence, all 5,923 were from urban areas.

By age group, the largest number of unemployed (1,442) were aged 40-49, followed by those aged 30-39 (1,377) and 50-55 (1,218).

A further 1,265 unemployed persons were over 55, while 419 were aged 25-29 and 202 were under 25.

Those with secondary education accounted for the largest share of registered unemployed (35.52%), followed by higher education graduates (28.75%) and vocational education graduates (15.18%). Lower secondary education accounted for 16.68%, post-secondary for 2.92%, and primary or no education for 0.95%.

In terms of employability, as determined by profiling, 1,122 persons were classified as very hard to employ, 1,777 as hard to employ, 1,744 as moderately employable and 1,280 as easily employable.
