A total of 27 local gastronomy points have been opened over the past five years in Bistrita-Nasaud County, 24 of which are currently active and offer tourists and customers dishes prepared according to traditional recipes, using ingredients sourced from their own households or from the local community, according to data provided on Thursday by Elena Barbos, Executive Director of the Produs in Bistrita-Nasaud (Produced in Bistrita-Nasaud) Association.
The county ranks among the top ten in Romania in terms of the number of local gastronomy points, agerpres reports.
'Of the 27 authorised local gastronomy points in Bistrita-Nasaud County, 24 are currently active. Given that we are in the national top ten in terms of their number, we can say we are satisfied with what we have achieved. We have developed and are currently implementing the project entitled The Gastronomic Region Gateway to Transylvania - Bistrita-Nasaud', which forms part of the Romanian traditional gastronomy route, one of the 12 cultural-tourism routes financed through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan. What I would like to stress is the quality offered by our local gastronomy points and the fact that they truly respect the essence of what such a concept means - offering tourists and customers dishes cooked in the household, using ingredients sourced from their own farms or from the community,' Elena Barbos said.
The first local gastronomy point supported by the Produs in Bistrita-Nasaud Association was inaugurated in April 2021 in Tiha Bargaului, while the most recent began operating two weeks ago in Telciu.
Of the authorised gastronomy points, 21 have accessed funding under the National Rural Development Programme (PNDR) to purchase equipment, with total funds attracted amounting to approximately 383,000 euro, according to information provided to AGERPRES by Sorin Rosu-Mares, Director of the County Office for Rural Investment Financing.
Some of those who opened such gastronomy points benefited from support provided by local action groups and received 100% non-repayable funding.
A further four local gastronomy points are expected to open this year in Bistrita-Nasaud County.
