The national sanitary-veterinary and food safety system is functional, credible and capable of responding quickly to both domestic risks and international requirements, the president of the National Sanitary Veterinary and Food Safety Authority (ANSVSA), Alexandru Bociu says.

"2025 was a year of major challenges, but also of firm decisions. In a difficult context, we demonstrated that the national sanitary-veterinary and food safety system is functional, credible and capable of responding quickly to both domestic risks and international requirements. Behind these words are thousands of hours of work, control actions, interventions in outbreaks, prevention measures, analyses, public communications and solutions applied, day after day, with responsibility," Bociu wrote in a post on the institution's Facebook page, in which he reviews the activities carried out in 2025, according to Agerpres.

He mentions the support provided by the Romanian Government, which has counted for the stability, continuity and ability of ANSVSA to remain present "where it matters most: in the field, on farms, in units, in markets, at the border" and that of colleagues who, "through their daily work", contribute to protecting public health and the Romanian agri-food sector.

According to the cited source, one of the most important responsibilities of ANSVSA is to protect animal health and, implicitly, the zootechnical economy and consumers.

Also, in 2025, Romania consolidated its status as a trusted partner by opening or expanding exports of animal products to markets such as Albania, Azerbaijan, Vietnam, Algeria, the United Arab Emirates, Tunisia, and others.

In his opinion, an important step in 2025 was the consolidation of the trilateral cooperation Romania - Ukraine - Republic of Moldova, to strengthen sanitary-veterinary safety at the eastern border of the European Union. "In a region where risks can quickly cross borders, cooperation is not a "bonus" - it is a necessity. Through this approach, we have strengthened prevention and response capacity and contributed to protecting animal health, trade and food safety," the president of ANSVSA wrote on social media.
