U-BT Cluj-Napoca defeated Polish team Slask Wroclaw dramatically, 94-92 (22-17, 27-34, 21-23, 24-18), on Tuesday evening, at BTarena, in Group A of the men's basketball EuroCup, Agerpres reports.
The match was balanced for most of the time, but late on Slask Wroclaw led on a few occasions by six points (77-71 and 83-77), before "U" came back and leveled, 90-90. At 92-92, with 12 seconds left, the visitors wasted two free throws, through Noah Kirkwood, then Dusan Miletic put the Romanian champions in front (94-92) in the final seconds.
Cuban Karel Guzman, who in this game went past 500 points scored for "U" in the EuroCup, committed a foul, but Jakub Niziol missed the two free throws that would have sent the match into overtime.
Romanian international Daron Russell, with 30 points, 7 rebounds, 7 assists, was by far the best player for the Cluj team.
Dusan Miletic stood out with 19 points, 14 rebounds, 5 assists, Karel Guzman finished with 14 points, 5 rebounds, while Iverson Molinar added 13 points, 4 assists.
The best for the Poles were Stefan Djordjevic, with 16 points, 9 rebounds, Issuf Sanon, 17 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, Noah Kirkwood, 16 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists, Ajdin Penava, 13 points, 3 rebounds.
