The new vehicles registrations in January 2016, compared with the same period of 2015, advanced by 17.39pct to 8,303 units, of which 5,800 automobiles, according to data released on Friday by the Driving Licenses and Vehicle Registration Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
As for the brands preferred by the Romanians, Dacia continues to rank first by 1,887 new units (+29.16pct against January 2015), followed by Volkswagen (523 units, +20.51pct), Skoda (450 units, -1.32pct) and Renault (399 units,+90.91pct).
Statistics also show that Lexus (6 units), Jaguar and smart (4 units each), Subaru (3 units), Alfa Romeo, Cadillac, Citroen-DS, Lada, Maserati, Mercedes-AMG and Rocar (one unit each) are the most uncommon brands.
By categories, positive percentages were recorded in January 2016 against January 2015 for semitrailers (213 units, +70.40pct), buses and minibuses (62 units, +34.78pct), freight vehicles (1,572 units, +33.82pct) and automobiles (5,800 units, +16.51pct).
The national fleet counted at end-2015 for approximately 6.6 million units, up by 5.27pct against the similar period of 2014, when it reached 6.27 million units; some 5.15 million were automobiles, on an uptrend by 5.04pct as compared to 4.9 millions in 2014.
In Bucharest, some 1.19 million vehicles were registered at end-2015, of which 956,664 automobiles.
Out of the 5.15 million automobiles registered in Romania, 302,054 are up to 2 years old, up by 52.7pct as compared to the figures released at the end of 2014, when they counted for 197,741 units. Overall, 3.484 million Romanians preferred diesel vehicles and 2.760 million gasoline ones.AGERPRES
