Minister for Romanians Abroad Natalia Intotero paid a working visit to Paris, France to attend a convention of the Congress of the Romanian Orthodox Metropolitan Bishopric of Western and Southern Europe.
According to an official press statement, Intotero made a thorough presentation of the work her ministry and highlighted the excellent co-operation between her ministry and representatives of the Romanian clergy abroad, encouraging them to submit as many projects as possible to support Romanians everywhere.
"The fact that we have many Romanians abroad is also revealed by the number of Romanian parishes and monasteries in the Romanian Diaspora, places where our fellow nationals seek spiritual guidance and which gives then a way to feel closer to home. Whereas in 1998 there were 30 parishes and two monasteries, today there are about 500 parishes and 20 monasteries that operate under the authority of the Romanian Orthodox Archdiocese of Western and Southern Europe. The Centennial Year marks the 20th anniversary of the archdiocese and the 10th anniversary of the Romanian Christian Orthodox episcopates in Italy and Spain. It is all the more important that this year, with its great significance, we are more united than ever and conduct projects together," Intotero is quoted as saying in the statement.
The minister distributed the attendees 500 pamphlets with information on preventing undeclared work, trafficking in human beings and modern slavery. She called on the priests in attendance to pass on the information materials in their parishes of so that they may reach as many Romanians as possible.
The distribution of information materials to Romanians everywhere is part of a national campaign called "Information at Home! Safety Abroad!" launched on Tuesday, which aims to inform Romanian citizens about the risks they may run when deciding to look for a job, study program, or settle abroad.
