National Liberal Party (PNL) deputies Wednesday lodged a simple motion on Education in the Chamber's plenary sitting, titled "Educate Romania, do not psd-ise it! (from PSD - Social Democratic Party, major at rule - ed.n.), in which they request the removal from office of minister Valentin Popa.
The announcement was made by PNL's leader in the Chamber of Deputies Raluca Turcan.
"There is one minister in Romania's Government who sacrifices our children's fate on the altar of political orders. PNL is lodging today a simple motion on Education, a clear sign that the list of ministers who seriously hurt Romania must be completed with minister Valentin Popa, the minister who shuts down schools in the Centennial Year, who abandons children to poverty and illiteracy and humiliates teachers. The assessment of the PSD-ALDE [Social Democratic Party, major at rule, Alliance of Liberals and Democrats, minor at rule - ed.n.] leadership in Education consists in closed schools in the Centennial Year, inspectors dismissed through fax because they did not correspond to the party's orders, examinations outside of the law, rising school dropout, schools that do not teach the youth any crafts, and the diplomas are far from certifying competencies. PNL thus pulls an alarm signal on a minister who needs to be urgently removed from office from Dancila's Cabinet [Viorica Dancila, premier - ed.n.] before it's too late," PNL group leader in the Chamber of Deputies Raluca Turcan said.
