Unaffiliated deputy Violeta Alexandru announces that the journalist Emilia Sercan, as well as the heads of the Romanian Police and the General Directorate for Defence Intelligence (DGIA) will be invited for discussions, next week, Agerpres reports.
"If we allow time to pass without clarifying what is happening to Emilia Sercan, silence will settle. And this is exactly what those who seem to be dealing with intimidating or even destroying the image of a journalist would like to happen. Everything about the accusations of plagiarism - the doctoral thesis of Mr. [Prime Minister] Nicolae Ciuca. I proposed, together with my colleagues from the Force of the Right, in the Committee for Human Rights of the Chamber of Deputies, to invite to a discussion Mrs. Sercan, the Chief of the Romanian Police and the Chief of the DGIA (Army Service). They voted 'in favour', and the Committee's staff is set to continue to organize for the first days of next week. End practices that have nothing to do with a democratic state!" Violeta Alexandru wrote on Facebook on Tuesday.
Journalist Emilia Sercan accused on Monday that she was subject to "actions of discredit and intimidation" after January 18, when "she revealed that the doctoral thesis of the prime minister is plagiarized".
