President Klaus Iohannis on Friday stated that as long as a minister in office exists, there is no stalemate at the gov't level, adding that if the Social-Democrats want other ministers, they only have to follow the steps provided by the Constitution.
"I see this situation very simple. As long as a minister is on the minister's chair, there is no stalemate. And, should the PSD (Social Democrat Party, major at rule, ed. n.) wishes for other ministers, all they have to do is follow the constitutional steps. (...) They have the opportunity of another shot," Iohannis said at the Cotroceni Palace, when asked about the situation at the Ministry of Development and the Ministry of Transport.
Previously on Friday, president Klaus Iohannis announced that he will reject the government nominations in order to appoint Lia-Olguta Vasilescu for minister of Development and Mircea Draghici for Transport minister.
"I haven't formulated a denial answer yet, because this is going to be, I will reject the nominations from the prime minister, because here we have legality arguments, along opportunity arguments as well. My team are working on this analysis, and yet by the middle of the next week I shall reveal the reasons included for which I will refuse the prime minister's proposals," the president said at the Cotroceni Palace, in a statement.
On Thursday, he signed a decree for vacating a seat as member of the Government through the resignation of Paul Stanescu from the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Regional Development and Public Administration offices and a decree vacating a seat as member of the Government through the resignation of Lucian Sova from the Transport Minister office.
