The Minister of Investments and European Projects, Dragos Pislaru, had several meetings, on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos, including with members of the American delegation, including the Secretary of Commerce and the Governor of California.
"I have already had relations with the American delegation. Earlier I met with the Secretary of Commerce, I met with the Governor of California", the Minister of Investments and European Projects, Dragos Pislaru declared on Wednesday in a telephone intervention on Antena 3.
He added that the Romanian delegation at the World Economic Forum in Davos is active and participates in panels related to important topics of the moment.
"If the image is that Romania would not necessarily be very active, I can tell you from here, in the heat of the moment, from Davos, that not only have we participated and are participating in panels related to the current themes but the meetings that we had, especially the Foreign Minister had, as well as us, the other members of the delegation, were precisely meant to support a positioning", stated the minister.
He specified that together with the other members of the Romanian delegation, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Oana Toiu, and the Minister of Energy, Bogdan Ivan, are in the room as officials.
The role of the government delegation at the World Economic Forum in Davos is to promote Romania and its modernization agenda, namely the acceleration and intelligent use of European funds, investments in infrastructure, education and healthcare, the green and digital transition and strengthening the resilience of the economy, the Minister of Investments and European Projects, Dragos Pislaru said in a Tuesday's post on Facebook.
"My role here is, together with my colleagues in our delegation, to promote Romania and present to international public and private actors our modernization agenda: accelerating and intelligent use of European funds, investments in infrastructure, education and healthcare, the green and digital transition and strengthening the resilience of the Romanian economy. I will use these days in Davos to strengthen Romania's profile as a serious partner, which does its homework, attracts investments at an accelerated pace and is prepared to play a more important role in Central and Eastern Europe and beyond", the minister wrote.
According to him, Davos is the most important meeting point in the world: almost 3,000 participants from over 130 countries, including 400 political leaders - over 60 heads of state and government - and about 850 CEOs of the world's largest companies.
Among the prominent participants, according to Pislaru, are U.S. President Donald J. Trump, French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, as well as technology leaders such as Satya Nadella (Microsoft) and Jensen Huang (Nvidia).
"In this context, it is essential for Romania to take an active part in the discussions in which the major directions of investment, technology, security and international cooperation are outlined," the minister believes.
He added that, in addition to participating in the plenary meetings, it has a series of bilateral meetings and is a speaker in a session of the main program on the importance of housing investments at European and global levels.
"Romania needs a professional representation and I am glad that I can use my international experience in this regard and that finally, after many years, we have a serious participation in Davos", the Minister of Investments and European Projects also said.
Romania is participating, between January 19-23, in this year's edition of the World Economic Forum in Davos - Switzerland with the most consistent government delegation of all the editions of the conference, formed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Oana Toiu, the Minister of Investments and European Projects, Dragos Pislaru, the Minister of Energy, Bogdan Ivan, and the Presidential Advisor Radu Burnete.
According to the Foreign Ministry, this year's edition of the Forum has as its central theme the support of dialogue ("A spirit of dialogue") and brings together high-level officials (presidents, prime ministers, ministers, etc), representatives of the most important international organizations and institutions, academia, the press, NGOs.
