Interior Minister Carmen Dan met on Friday, on the sidelines of the ministerial meeting of the Salzburg Forum (SF), with executive director of Europol Catherine de Bolle. The discussions focused on Romania's contribution to the functioning of this European agency.
"I have met a powerful woman and very involved in preventing and fighting all forms of organised crime, with ramifications at European level. I am referring to Europol director Catherine de Bolle, whom I have talked with about Romania's contribution to the functioning of this European agency, but also about aspects related to ensuring the Presidency of the Council of the EU, by our country, in the first half of 2019," Carmen Dan announced in a post on her Facebook page.
The Minister underscored that Romania is a full member state of Europol as of 2007, ranked among the top five places in terms of the number of staff working within this European agency.
"The Romanian officers' professionalism was highly regarded during today's discussions. I wasn't surprised, but glad! And I have to admit something else. For me, meeting Mrs Catherine de Bolle represented a special moment. I have always believed in women's capacity to efficiently manage, including institutions of force, and the firm and analytical approach of the Europol director did nothing but confirm this thing," Carmen Dan stated.
The Minister mentioned that the works of the Salzburg Forum, an event organised at the Parliament Palace, will continue throughout Friday and voiced conviction that, in the end, "efficient solutions will result from it, in order to increase the safety level for all European citizens."
