Several interventions to restore electricity supply are underway in localities affected by heavy snowfall and blizzard, which are being made more difficult by unfavorable weather conditions, according to a press release sent on Monday by Retele Electrice Romania.

"The interventions of the Retele Electrice Romania teams, as well as those of the contractors, are underway in particularly difficult conditions. All available resources are being mobilized to restore the electricity supply in the localities affected by heavy snowfall and blizzards, generated by the severe weather phenomena specific to the yellow and orange codes in the Banat region. These actions are taking place in parallel with the interventions of the authorities to clear and unblock access roads. The situation remains very dynamic, and the intervention operations are seriously hampered by the unfavorable weather conditions, with isolated or very difficult to access areas. In Hunedoara and Caras-Severin counties (...), especially in the mountainous areas, snow layers of 20-30 cm are recorded, and wind gusts reach speeds of 80-90 km/h. These conditions cause strong blizzards and significantly reduce visibility, affecting the pace and safety of interventions", the press release states.

According to the cited source, the number of technician teams was increased to 84 teams from the company and contractors, and at 3:00 p.m. the situation was as follows: in Arad County, punctual interventions are taking place for individual and collective disturbances; in Timis, two medium voltage lines still need to be repaired, with two localities and 500 customers being partially affected; in Hunedoara, a county still under the Orange Code, interventions are taking place for defects on 20 medium voltage lines that partially affect the supply of 25 localities and about 5,500 customers; In Caras-Severin, still affected by severe weather conditions, ten lines are being repaired, with 12 localities and 1,900 customers partially affected.

An Orange Code for bad weather is valid until Tuesday, at 10:00, in the mountain area of Caras-Severin, Mehedinti, Gorj and Hunedoara counties. In these areas, especially at altitudes above 1,400 meters, it will continue to snow temporarily heavily, and the newly deposited snow layer will be 20 - 30 cm (equivalent in water to 20 - 30 l/sqm).

At the same time, in the high area there will be gusts of 80 - 90 km/h, there will be strong blizzards and reduced visibility.
