The executive approved, on Thursday, the extension of the collective labor agreement in insurance, so that the rights of over 8,000 employees will be protected, informs the Ministry of Labor, Family, Youth and Social Solidarity (MMFTSS).
"The Government of Romania, at the initiative of the Ministry of Labor, Family, Youth and Social Solidarity, approved the legal procedure for extending the application of the collective labor agreement to the level of collective bargaining sector no. 42 - 'Insurance and reinsurance activities'. The collective labor agreement, registered this year, on June 24, currently covers 4,815 employees, respectively 59.59% of the total employees in the sector, thus fulfilling the legal conditions for extension provided for by Law no. 367/2022 on social dialogue," the press release reads.
Following the extension, the provisions of the contract will become applicable to all units in collective bargaining sector no. 42 - "Insurance and reinsurance activities", which means a direct impact on over 8,000 employees, according to data from the National Institute of Statistics (INS).
According to the cited source, the extension of the collective labor agreement ensures a unitary framework of rights and obligations for all employees in the sector, contributing to increasing social protection, predictability of labor relations and strengthening social dialogue at the sectoral level.
"The extension request was submitted to the Ministry of Labor, Family, Youth and Social Solidarity in October and was analyzed within the National Tripartite Council for Social Dialogue, which granted the necessary opinion. This measure is part of the commitments undertaken by Romania as a member state of the European Union and contributes to facilitating collective bargaining at sectoral level, in order to achieve the objective of 80% coverage of workers through collective bargaining, provided for by Directive (EU) 2022/2041 on adequate minimum wages," the press release states.
