The emergency ordinance regarding the fuel crisis will be adopted in Thursday's ordinary Government meeting, according to an Executive release.

"Following today's [Wednesday] discussions within the National Tripartite Council for Social Dialogue, the Ministry of Finance will implement some changes, which will be announced this evening," the release informs.

On Wednesday, the representative trade union confederations announced that they would not participate in the National Tripartite Council for Social Dialogue (CNT-DS) meeting, accusing the Government of pretending to consult social partners regarding the energy crisis and not allowing enough time for discussing the measures, according to a joint release.

The trade unionists also presented a list of demands, including a request to reduce VAT and excise duties on fuels.

"Reducing excise duties on fuels, which make up a significant share of approximately 50% - 60% of the final price and directly influence transport and production costs, as well as lowering the general VAT rate to ease pressure on consumption and prices in the economy - reducing taxation is an urgent measure to mitigate the effects of the energy crisis," the authors of the document pointed out.

Also on Wednesday, a meeting of the Economic and Social Council (CES) is taking place, an institution that must issue an opinion on the draft emergency ordinance regarding the fuel crisis.
