Education and Scientific Research Minister Adrian Curaj said on Thursday in Oradea that 50 scholarships of excellence worth 15,000 euros each are available annually for those who have won international Olympiads or important international contests and these youths remain in the country to work in the field of research.
Adrian Curaj voiced his disappointment, saying that although there is such an opportunity, this year there was no offer as the contest has not been announced.
"Unfortunately, there were no requests. Fourteen were given two years ago, 11 three years ago, and this year there has been no offer as the contest has not been announced and I was disappointed. That is why I am announcing it that [the students] know about the program. I am sorry that wonderful things are not spoken about and are not known," the minister said.
The young people who want to receive such a scholarship must have won an international award or a world Olympiad in the last two years of high school, provided they study in a university in Romania and associate themselves with a research laboratory of interest to them.
"It is not an education scholarship but a scholarship for a very young researcher. We do not stop youth mobility, we are just trying to give an alternative to those who want to stay in Romania. I think it is an extraordinary investment, which we thought in perspective and with greater implications," said the minister. AGERPRES
