The discussions at Cotroceni Palace with President Nicusor Dan and the other coalition leaders focused on the preparation of the budget, the aspects included in the administrative reform package, as well as foreign policy issues, Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan said.

He was asked on TVR 1 about Tuesday's discussions with the head of state and what they referred to regarding the situation in the governing coalition, given that Nicusor Dan stated prior to the meeting that he would like the coalition partners to stop criticizing each other and for the discussions to be more constructive.

"The President's observations are correct. I had a meeting with him, with the presidents of the coalition parties, in which, of course, we discussed issues related to the preparation of the budget, the aspects included in the administrative reform package, those related to foreign policy, in such a way that there is an alignment with him on the foreign policy component," Prime Minister Bolojan replied.

At the same time, he was asked whether, following the discussions at Cotroceni, "a commitment, a peace agreement" between the coalition leaders could be recorded.

"This is not about a peace agreement, we are faced with decisions that we must put into practice, the most important of which is to have a realistic budget as quickly as possible. This would mean that by the end of next week we should be able to prepare this budget, to finalize all discussions related to the main allocations, investment projects, and other aspects related to the budget," the head of the Government said.

At the same time, he said that in preparing the budget, in advance, the packages regarding the public administration reform and economic recovery measures would be approved.

"It would be good to adopt and I believe we will adopt, for calendar reasons, the administration package and the economic recovery package at the beginning of next week. They cannot be adopted this week because, in addition to the approval from the ministries, a vote in the CES [Economic and Social Council], in this council, is also needed, so that the procedure is fully completed, and that requires two or three extra days," the prime minister explained.

On Monday, the leaders of the four parties of the governing coalition and the national minorities group established that the public administration reform and the economic recovery package will be adopted by emergency ordinance immediately after the approval is completed, with several amendments concerning the institutions in the defense system, public order, national security, education, healthcare and culture.

At the same time, regarding local taxes and fees, the coalition decided "to work on several proposals for amendments regarding the situation created following the application of overtaxation quotas, the situation of buildings older than 50 years and people with disabilities".

The meeting on Tuesday afternoon at the Cotroceni Palace took place just two days before President Nicuor Dan is to participate in the first meeting of the Board of Peace, organized by US President Donald Trump, in Washington.
