Deputy Prime Minister Ana Birchall met on Tuesday with a delegation of the UK Parliament's friendship group with Romania, made up of Bob Blackman, John Grogan, Drew Hendry and Carol Monaghan, context in which she reiterated, regarding the Brexit topic, the importance of defending the rights of the Romanian citizens and their families who live, work or study in the United Kingdom.
According to a release of the Government, during the talks the importance of the Strategic Partnership with the UK was underscored, a partnership which has a solid foundation in the security area, the economic sphere, as well as multiple opportunities of development.
In respect to the Brexit topic, the Romanian official reiterated the importance of defending the rights of the Romanian citizens and their families who live, work or study in the United Kingdom, underscoring that "Romania will further support the UK in remaining as close as close as possible to the European Union even after the Brexit comes into force."
Furthermore, the Romanian side appreciated the support that the UK grants to the Black Sea region, the Eastern Partnership and the Western Balkans.
Moreover, Deputy PM Ana Birchall conveyed to the British partners that Romania grants a special importance to the relationships with the UK, including in view of strengthening the parliamentary diplomacy.
