More than 300 experts will gather in the most important cyber security exercise in Romania - CyDEx18 - to be held from 8 to 10 October at the Snagov Palace, the Romanian Intelligence Service (SRI) website informs.
The SRI-organized event will be attended by more than 90 public, private and academic entities, bringing together over 300 cyber security experts.
CyDEx18 is organized by the SRI through the Cyberint National Center, in partnership with the Defence Ministry (MApN), the Ministry of the Interior (MAI), the Foreign Ministry (MAE), the Special Telecomunication Service (STS), the Guard and Protection Service (SPP), the Foreign Intelligence Service (SIE), National registry office for classified information (ORNISS), CERT-RO and with the support of the Polytechnic University of Bucharest.
According to the organizers, the main objective is exercising the defense capabilities in the field of cyber security and rapid intervention mechanisms in the event of threats to critical IT&C infrastructures relevant to national security. "It is also important to check the level of technical expertise of the specialists from the participating entities in the event of a major national cyber incident," the SRI informed.
CyDEx18 is the only hands-on national exercise (focused on the practical component), a feature that gives it a high degree of complexity and an advanced level of realism. Complex simulations will run in a cyber security ground created and customized specifically for this exercise by SRI specialists at the Cyberint National Center.
As compared to the 2017 edition, there will be several scenarios with a high degree of realism, proposed by both public and private entities: SRI, SPP, MApN, CERT-RO, UNICREDIT and ENEVO GROUP. Scenarios will challenge players to discover and analyze malware with a high degree of complexity and investigate various types of simulated attacks, the quoted source informs.
