Construction production in Romania up 7pct five months into 2025

Construction production in Romania in the first five months of 2025 increased by 7%, year-on-year, seasonally adjusted, according to data with the National Institute of Statistics (INS) published on Friday.

The increase was mainly due to capital repair works and new construction works, which increased by 52.7% and 6.9%, respectively.

On the other hand, ongoing maintenance and repair works decreased by 12.2%, agerpres reports.

Increases were recorded in civil engineering (+13.7%) and residential buildings (+1.3%). Non-residential buildings fell by 1.7%.

In May 2025, construction production was up 1%, month-on-month, seasonally adjusted, as ongoing maintenance and repair works advanced 5.4%. Capital repair works and new construction works decreased by 11.4% and 0.4%, respectively.

Construction production increased in non-residential buildings (+5.1%) and civil engineering (+0.6%), while residential buildings decreased by 10.3%.

As against May 2024, construction production was up 2.9%, seasonally adjusted. Increases were reported in capital repair works (+51.1%). Ongoing maintenance and repair works decreased by 6.3%, and new construction works levelled out.

Civil engineering was up 8.3% and non-residential buildings 2.5%, while residential buildings declined 6.2%.
