In March 2020, 3,224 building permits were released for residential buildings, down 15 percent compared to the same month of 2019, a decrease of 568 permits, according to the data published by the National Institute of Statistics (INS) on Thursday.
Of the 3,224 building permits released for residential buildings in March, 68 percent were for the rural area, according to the INS.
In March, decreases were recorded in the following development regions: Bucharest-Ilfov (-323 permits), West (-108), North-East and South-East (-85 each) and South-West Oltenia (-30) and Center (-1). Increases were recorded in the North-West (+61 permits) and South-Muntenia (+3) development regions.
In the first three months of 2020, a number of 8,645 building permits were released for residential buildings, down 0.3 percent against Q1 of 2019.
In this period drops were recorded in the following development regions: Bucharest-Ilfov (-238 permits), South-East (-107),West (-94) and Center (-69). Increases were recorded in the North-West (+233 permits), North-East (+167), South-West Oltenia (+72) and South-Muntenia (+8) development regions.
The building permit is an authoritative act of the local administration based on which the implementation of measures laid down in the law with regard to the siting, design, execution and functioning of constructions is ensured.
