The Romanian capital will host, between May 18 and 20, one of the most important European events dedicated to transport, logistics and freight forwarding - the SEEFF & FIATA REU Field Meeting 2026 European Congress, organized by the Union of Romanian Forwarding Companies (USER), in collaboration with SEEFF and FIATA.

"More than just a conference, the South Eastern Freight Forwarders Association (SEEFF) Congress joins forces with the FIATA Regional Field Meeting (REU), creating a flagship event for the industry. It creates a unique setting where the voices of regional freight forwarding leaders meet the global perspective of FIATA, ensuring that the interests of freight forwarders in South Eastern Europe are not only heard, but also actively promoted internationally," the organizers' press release states.

According to the cited source, participants are invited to three days dedicated to quality networking, B2B meetings and knowledge exchange, aimed at strengthening and developing the shipping and logistics community in South-Eastern Europe.

The event marks a landmark moment for the industry, being the first joint SEEFF - FIATA organization in Romania, after more than two decades since the last SEEFF edition held in Bucharest.

The SEEFF & FIATA REU European Congress 2026 marks 30 years since the first SEEFF Congress (formerly the Balkan Congress), organized in 1996, an event that laid the foundations for regional cooperation between freight forwarding associations in South-Eastern Europe. It also marks 25 years since the last edition hosted by Romania. Thus, Romania hosted the SEEFF Congress in 2001, and the return of the event to Bucharest underlines the consolidation of our country's role as a relevant actor in European logistics.

"Founded in Vienna in 1926, FIATA marks a century of existence in 2026, an anniversary that gives the Bucharest edition a strong symbolic and strategic value, connecting the industry's tradition with the transformations of the future," the press release reads.

The Congress aims to position Romania and the South-Eastern European region as strategic nodes in European and global logistics chains, in a context marked by geopolitical volatility, pressures on supply chains and the acceleration of digitalization processes.

During the first two days, participants will take part in high-level conferences and panels; applied debates on current topics; Networking sessions dedicated to industry professionals.

Among the key topics addressed are: security and resilience of supply chains; combating fraud in road transport in Romania and at European level; digitalization of transport documents (e-CMR, e-FBL, e-AWB, e-CIM); development of intermodal transport and logistics corridors; adaptation of the industry to new European regulations.

The third day of the congress will be dedicated to social and cultural programs, offering participants the opportunity to discover Bucharest and its heritage, through organized visits to emblematic sites such as the Palace of Parliament and the Cathedral of the Salvation of the Nation.

"The organized excursions and visits will create the ideal setting for relaxed networking and authentic dialogue, and international guests will have the opportunity to explore some of Bucharest's most impressive landmarks. The program includes visiting the Palace of Parliament, the largest administrative building in the world, as well as the Cathedral of the Salvation of the People, the largest Orthodox cathedral in the world. Through this initiative, the organizers aim to put Romania on the map of major European events, promoting it as an attractive destination for business, investment and tourism, where history, culture and contemporary ambition blend harmoniously," according to the document.

In the opinion of the organizers, the SEEFF & FIATA REU 2026 European Congress is not just an industry event, but a positioning statement.

"By bringing regional and global freight forwarding leaders to Bucharest, Romania affirms its strategic role in the European logistics architecture and becomes a real platform for dialogue, decision-making and collaboration. At a time when supply chains are being redrawn and cooperation is becoming essential, this congress confirms that South-Eastern Europe has a strong voice, and Bucharest is the place where it is heard," USER reports.

Registration for the SEEFF & FIATA REU 2026 European Congress is now open, and participants can benefit from "early bird" rates, available for a limited period, until March 17, 2026.
