Works on the new bridge over the Tisza River, which will connect Sighetu Marmatiei in Romania to the Ukrainian town of Bila Tserkva will be completed by the end of May, the head of the State Agency for Reconstruction and Infrastructure Development, Serhiy Sukhomlin, told AGERPRES on Wednesday.
He said that the investment on the Ukrainian side has been delayed due to insufficient funds allocated from the state budget.
"The bridge over the Tisza is a very important project for Ukraine. Because there has been no funding so far, works in Bila Tserkva started only in August last year. A large part of the investment has been made. On the Ukrainian side, the bank is much lower than on the Romanian side and works were needed to strengthen the bank. All these works have been done. Today I had a discussion with the deputy prime minister on this subject. I think it is possible to open this border crossing by the end of May," Sukhomlin said.
