Babes-Bolyai University (UBB) of Cluj-Napoca, through its Doctoral School of Economic Sciences and Business Administration, is joining the Marie Sklodowska-Curie Action (MSCA) Doctoral Network HEPARD, coordinated by the University of Duisburg-Essen (Germany), which also includes Tilburg University (the Netherlands), Uppsala University (Sweden), the University of Oslo (Norway) and the RWI - Leibniz Institute for Economic Research, Essen (Germany), the Cluj-based institution announced.
'The HEPARD Network (Health Economic Policy Analysis with Real World Data) aims to train a new generation of researchers in the area of Health Economics and will recruit a total of 12 doctoral candidates, with Babes-Bolyai University hosting two foreign PhD students who will carry out their doctoral studies within the Doctoral School of Economic Sciences and Business Administration on the project themes The impact of health and social interventions on family well-being' and Methodological cross-breeding - bridging disciplines and designs for enhanced causal inference',' reads an UBB release on Wednesday.
According to the source, this interdisciplinary project aims to combine scientific research with the impact of public health policies in order to lay the foundations for more equitable and more efficient systems in Europe.
The programme started on 1 November 2025, and doctoral students will be enrolled between 2026 and 2029. The coordinator of the initiative on behalf of UBB is Professor Gheorghe Cosmin Silaghi, PhD., while the doctoral supervisors involved in the project are Professor Cristian-Marius Litan, PhD., and Associate Professor Irina Marilena Ban, PhD.
