The agricultural area affected by the extreme meteorological phenomena registered in the last period amounts to approximately 4,665 hectares, but of the total sown area it currently represents less than 1%, Marius Mihai Micu, Secretary of State in the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MADR), agerpres reports.
"The areas most affected by the floods are currently in the counties of Teleorman, Tulcea, Neamt, Satu Mare, Mures, Harghita, Alba, Bihor, Cluj and Gorj, but there will certainly be also in Galati and Vrancea. There have been hailstorms recently in Giurgiu and Teleorman. The data are monitored, in a dynamic way, and they are updated daily. At this moment the total registered area affected by floods and extreme weather phenomena is approximately 4,665 hectares, of which 3,860 hectares by floods and storms and 804 hectares by hail. This represents less than 1% of the total sown area," said Micu.
Given the rainfall in 2021, Micu says that this year will be "definitely a better agricultural year than last year", when pedological drought manifested itself extremely intensely in the country.
