The National Anti-Corruption Directorate (DNA) will still have to remain a strong, independent and relevant body, according to Anca Jurma, who took over the office of DNA chief prosecutor on Thursday.
"DNA is both a part of the Romanian judiciary and a national anti-corruption authority (...) The directorate has a major responsibility in carrying out the mandate attributed to it by the law, namely the fight against high-level corruption (...) DNA will have to remain a strong, independent and relevant institution as long as Romania faces the phenomenon of corruption," Jurma said.
She added she would strive to ensure a balanced interim eldership and thanked former DNA chief Laura Codruta Kovesi.
