The volume We the People - The Historic Speeches of Donald Trump, edited with selections, notes and introductory studies by Dan Dungaciu, will be launched on 15 January, in the Stefan II conference hall of the Urban Business Center in Chisinau, as part of the event "America, Romania and the Republic of Moldova in the regional context".
"The launch of this volume in Chisinau on the occasion of National Culture Day, on 15 January, is a natural gesture for at least two reasons. On the one hand, the Republic of Moldova is part of the Romanian cultural and ethno-linguistic space - it is natural that the major debates taking place in Bucharest should be reflected, in one form or another, in Chisinau as well. This cultural and intellectual unity cannot be ignored. On the other hand - and here the stakes are far higher and more serious - it is far more imperative that a discussion on regional strategy and security take place in Chisinau than in Bucharest. The reason is simple: Bucharest, despite the enormous tension unprecedented since the collapse of the USSR, is nevertheless a member state of the EU and, above all, a NATO member state," Dan Dungaciu, first vice-president of Alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR), told AGERPRES on Thursday.
According to him, it is essential that the debate on security take place in Chisinau, where this issue has been discussed for more than 30 years 'without a clear and definitive solution being identified".
"Chisinau is not a NATO member. The Republic of Moldova is a neutral state. In practice, the Republic of Moldova currently has no real security solution. Not even EU integration in itself represents a security guarantee - something demonstrated by Sweden and Finland. Therefore, the Republic of Moldova does not benefit from solid security guarantees. That is why it is essential for the debate on security to take place in Chisinau, where this issue has been discussed for over 30 years without a clear and final solution. The Republic of Moldova needs to be able to ensure its security, and this can be achieved in only two ways: either through direct integration into NATO (which is completely unrealistic), or through reunification with Romania and integration into a common defence system through simultaneous accession to the EU and NATO. Of course, these options depend exclusively on the will of the citizens of the Republic of Moldova. I am not anticipating any decision, but merely underlining the importance of the fact that, starting from the launch of a volume dedicated to the speeches of Donald Trump, we arrive at a debate on the most important and pressing issue for the Republic of Moldova, Romania and the entire region: security," Dungaciu explained.
Published by Creator Publishing House, We the People - The Historic Speeches of Donald Trump was first launched on 3 December 2025 at the Gaudeamus Radio Romania Book Fair.
